It’s not a secret that quarantine makes us eat more and gain weight due to a lack of physical activity. However, motivation also plays a significant role. Is there any way you can stay fit without excessive struggling with your diet and workout? We know for sure there is. Here are a few tips that will help you stay fit even without putting much effort.

Go on Walks

Walking is a great habit that can make you burn calories without even noticing it, improve your muscle tone, and keep your body healthy, avoiding “Freshman 15.” Walking in fresh air allows you to keep your blood pressure balanced, and even helps you with anxiety and stress.

So, walking is the first thing that you should try if you want to stay healthy and fit. There are a few tricks for people who don’t really like long walks:

  1. Walk during long calls or while you are on Facetime. While you are on your phone chatting with your friends or relatives, time goes by fast, doesn’t it? If you don’t like long walks, you can make them much more pleasant by taking your conversations with you.
  2. Listen to podcasts or your favorite audiobooks. This way, you will not only make your walks more enjoyable but also useful and interesting.
  3. Walk for at least 20 minutes every day. Only 20 minutes per day can really change your mood, body, and metabolism. It’s not that much, right? You can surely do it.

Stand Up

While you are sitting all day long in front of your computer, the blood circulation in your legs and hands gets slower and weaker. It results in weight gain, vein problems, cellulite, and a slower metabolism. So, you should get into the habit of standing up every hour for at least five minutes to walk around, dance a little, do a few squats, or just shake your feet and hands.

Raise your hands and stretch your back, shake your feet and let your eyes rest from the computer screen. Even such short breaks will really help you stay healthy and improve your blood circulation, which in turn will help you stay fit.

Eat Less Sugar

This is one of the most common tips that any health magazine will provide you with, but it’s really an important one. No matter how much time you spend working out, the more sugar you eat, the more weight you gain. A healthy diet means cutting down as much sugar as you can.

Even if you are really obsessed with various cakes, desserts, and sodas, you should definitely at least limit the amount of them consumed per day. Try to avoid eating sugary products after your lunch, and you will notice that your skin and your weight are improving.

Work Out During Breaks

If you tend to spend a lot of time in your bed watching TV, you can use the adverts to have a little work out instead of just waiting for your favorite show to continue. Just a few squats or a plank are a great way to spend these few minutes with some benefit for your health and your body.

When you are studying, you can also use your breaks (which you should have at least every 1-1.5 hours) to tone your muscles. Remember that the quality of your exercises matters more than their quantity. Don’t be obsessed with long and exhausting workouts – you should start slowly and motivate yourself. So, even if you don’t do much – it’s better than doing nothing.

Get Active for Just Ten Minutes

Even a ten-minute workout every day can really change the way you look and feel. When you are feeling lazy or just don’t have enough time to have a full workout in a gym, you can create a habit of working out for ten minutes a day or even less.

Create a list of exercises that you think you need to get fit, for example:

  1. Plank 30 seconds – 1 minute
  2. Squats
  3. Push-ups
  4. Lunges
  5. Jumps
  6. Rows

Repeat these exercises as many times as you can under ten minutes. You can set the timer or create a playlist of your favorite songs that would boost your energy and mood. If you can make it a habit, you will see that it gets easier every time and your body gets stronger. Then you can adjust the list of your exercises and the time you spend on your workouts.

Boost Your Metabolism

Drinking enough water through the day is one of the basics of a good metabolism, you probably know that. You can add some fruits, like lemons, oranges, and ginger to your water bottle to make it more enjoyable.

By the way, lemon and ginger are great for your metabolism but don’t overeat them as they affect stomach acidity. It’s always a great idea to talk to your doctor or a nutritionist before you try any diet as they might harm you.

It’s much better to track how much you eat in a day and what exact products prevail in your everyday diet. By the way, check out our blog post on how to cook healthy meals while staying on a budget. If you eat a lot of snacks and sugar, try to cut them down, eating more vegetables, meat, and fish instead. You can also try having more meals per day but in smaller portions. For example, five-six smaller meals per day are more preferable than two oversized meals.
